Mildred Anne Butler (1858–1941) was one of Ireland's finest watercolourists — trained in the tradition of the Newlyn School, devoted to the gardens, birds, farm animals, and domestic life of her native Kilkenny. Her work is luminous, warm, and technically extraordinary. A deeply Irish painter who created some of the most beautiful images of the Irish countryside ever made.
