Collection: Thomas Hickey

A Dubliner who built one of the most remarkable international careers in 18th-century portraiture — and brought the Irish eye to some of the most significant faces of the age.

Thomas Hickey (1741–1824) painted statesmen, colonial elites, writers, and cultural figures across Britain, India, and the Far East — combining technical precision with a deep sensitivity to character and setting. He travelled the world with the confidence of an artist who knew exactly what he was doing. One of Ireland's great portrait masters, and one of its most underappreciated.
