About the Artist

James Malton (1761–1803) was an English-born architect and printmaker who fell in love with Dublin. He spent his career documenting the city's buildings with obsessive care, producing over 100 aquatint prints that became the definitive record of late-18th-century Dublin. His work was technical but never cold—every line carries affection for the place.
