Collection: Helen Mabel Trevor

Scenes of ordinary Irish life, rendered with extraordinary care.

Helen Mabel Trevor (1831–1900) developed a realist style rooted in careful observation and emotional restraint — trained and exhibited in Paris, where her work was well received at the Salon. Her paintings of rural and domestic Irish life carry a quiet dignity that still resonates: the people depicted are not subjects but individuals, and she treats them as such. Her work hangs in the National Gallery of Ireland.
