A quiet stretch of Wicklow coastline rendered with remarkable sensitivity to atmosphere and light. In Bray Head, James Arthur O'Connor captures the Irish coast in a moment between calm and weather — soft skies rolling over rugged cliffs, with the sea moving gently below. The work has an almost contemporary openness to it, balancing topographical detail with mood and movement.

A watercolour with the restrained palette and luminous handling of light that marked O'Connor's mastery of Irish landscape, it turns familiar scenery into something poetic and expansive, with a timeless stillness that works beautifully in modern interiors.

James Arthur O'Connor (1792–1841) was one of Ireland's most important Romantic landscape painters. His works hang in the National Gallery of Ireland and major public collections across Britain and Ireland.
